Questions, answered
Are Aelse cashmere sweaters 100% cashmere?
Our cashmere sweaters and cardigans are knit from pure cashmere in small batches — no blends to cut cost. Soft, light, and made to soften further with wear.
What's the difference between a cashmere and a merino wool sweater?
Cashmere is finer, lighter and warmer for its weight; merino wool is sturdier and springier. Both are natural and breathable — cashmere for softness, merino for everyday resilience.
How should a cashmere cardigan fit?
Close but not tight — a cashmere cardigan should skim rather than cling, so it layers cleanly over a tee or under a coat. Ours are cut relaxed enough to live in.
Is cashmere warm without being heavy?
Yes. Cashmere holds warmth close in fine, light fibres, so it warms without weight. The reason it's the fabric you reach for first.
How do you wash cashmere and wool?
Hand-wash cool with a little wool soap, or dry-clean, and lay flat to dry — never wring or hang. Treated gently, they only soften with time.
Does cashmere pill, and how do I stop it?
All cashmere pills a little where it rubs; the finer the fibre, the less. A gentle comb or cashmere stone lifts the pills and the knit stays smooth.
Is alpaca warmer than wool?
Yes, and lighter, with none of the itch. Baby alpaca traps heat in hollow fibres, so it warms without weight.
How do you store knitwear so it lasts?
Fold it, never hang it, and keep it clean and dry over summer. Folded and rested, a good knit holds its shape for years.
